According to The Huffington Post, almost 5 million women in the U.S. each year experience physical violence by an intimate partner. Domestic violence is a large issue that is still prevalent to this day. Ever watch the 6 o’clock news feature devastating stories and think to yourself, “someone should do something about that”? After serving in the military, Jesse Peterson decided he was going to be one to take a stand and make change.

Peterson created FightDV, an organization with a mission to break the chains of domestic violence for future generations through positive messages and bold statements. Jesse believes that awareness can be promoted without pointing blame at any one individual, thus creating their motto “Breaking Chains Without Casting Stones”.

We got to speak with Peterson to learn more about his organization and how shirts have helped in his fight.
“I figured the easiest way to get the bold message in front of people was to put it on backs for others to see so that maybe the message would resonate. And maybe [people] would think that much more about making a change: whether it be abusers needing to stop, or victims needing to muster the strength from “seeing a sign” to break away from being abused. My experience with ooShirts totally beats the competition!
